Israeli Company Claims the Most Efficient Wind Turbines

An Israeli company founded by Dr. Daniel Farb only three years ago has just completed field tests and found a big improvement on the efficiency of their wind turbines compared to what is currently on the market. As wind goes more mainstream, Dr. Farb’s design could have big implications for the spread of wind power as a way for people to cut their carbon footprint.
The innovative design can be used for both wind turbines, as well as water turbines.
“By structuring the input of the wind or water we can make them hit the blades better and greatly increase their efficiency,” said Dr. Farb.
The energy market in Israel is not one ideally suited for wind power, as the wind rarely blows faster than 3-4 meters per second, compared to 8-10 meters per second in the UK. However, where traditional wind turbines only start turning near the 3-4 meter per second mark, some of Dr. Farber’s smaller design start turning at one meter per second, which could help bring the technology to areas of the world where the wind does not blow as much.
